Al-Batin — Meaning of Allah's Name

Meaning

The Hidden, nearer than anything, with nothing beyond His knowledge.

In the Quran

  1. 3هُوَ ٱلۡأَوَّلُ وَٱلۡءَاخِرُ وَٱلظَّـٰهِرُ وَٱلۡبَاطِنُۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَیۡءٍ عَلِيمٌ

    He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing.

Surah Al-Hadid · 57:3

Allah says: “And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them” (Quran 7:180).

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred less one; whoever enumerates them will enter Paradise” (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim). This does not mean His names are limited to ninety-nine.
