Al-Kabir — Meaning of Allah's Name

Meaning

The Most Great, greater than everything.

In the Quran

  1. 9عَـٰلِمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ٱلۡكَبِيرُ ٱلۡمُتَعَالِ

    [He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Grand, the Exalted.

Surah Ar-Ra'd · 13:9

Allah says: “And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them” (Quran 7:180).

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred less one; whoever enumerates them will enter Paradise” (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim). This does not mean His names are limited to ninety-nine.
