At-Tawwab — Meaning of Allah's Name

Meaning

The Accepter of Repentance, who accepts the repentance of those who return to Him.

In the Quran

  1. 37فَتَلَقَّىٰۤ ءَادَمُ مِن رَّبِّهِۦ كَلِمَـٰتࣲ فَتَابَ عَلَيۡهِۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

    Then Adam received from his Lord [some] words, and He accepted his repentance. Indeed, it is He who is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.

Surah Al-Baqara · 2:37

Allah says: “And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them” (Quran 7:180).

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred less one; whoever enumerates them will enter Paradise” (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim). This does not mean His names are limited to ninety-nine.
